Partnering with arts>Brookfield Properties, the California African American Museum presents a dynamic exhibition of photographs, paintings, sculpture and assemblage of 24 member artists of the California Artists Coalition of Los Angeles.

Titled CAAM’s 7+FIG Showcase, this temporary extension of the museum’s Exposition Park location will be open daily from 12 noon to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, as well as on the Thursday LA Downtown Art Walk evenings during the run of the show, April 8, May 13 and June 10. During the Art Walk, the gallery will be open from noon to 9:00 pm to welcome guests.
More than 20 member artists of the California Artist Coalition of Los Angeles will exhibit in the 7+FIG Art Space, which is being made available by arts>Brookfield Properties. This exhibition is part of a unique program created by Brookfield Properties to sponsor art in the unique public spaces of Brookfield Properties’ downtown Los Angeles buildings and to provide a venue that supports local, LA-based artists and arts organizations. The artworks on display will include paintings, sculpture, photographs and assemblage by well-recognized members of the coalition. Included are Artis Lane, John Outterbridge, Richard Mayhew, Pat Boyd, Raoul de la Sota, Enoch Mack, Ben Caldwell, and Valena Broussard Dismukes. Also on view are works by Donna Angers, Donovan Dickson , Lexie Cole, Teresa Tolliver, Charles Dickson, Michael Massenburg, Robert McMillion, Carole McCoy, Tim Washington and Jaami Abdul-Samad. Additional artists whose works will be displayed are Matthew Thomas, Howard Swerdloff, David Lovejoy, Richard Turner and Kathy Yoshihara.
And for young art enthusiasts, there will be two special 7+FIG Kid’s Club programs on Saturday, April 24 and Saturday, May 22, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the 7+FIG Art Space, where youngsters can produce their own works by stretching their creative muscles under the helpful eye of artist Teresa Tolliver.
About the California African American Museum (CAAM)
CAAM researches, collects, preserves and interprets for public enrichment, the history, art and culture of African Americans with emphasis on California and the western United States. On the first Sunday of each month, CAAM produces Target Sundays @ CAAM where, in addition to exhibitions, CAAM presents film screenings, dance and music programs, an artisans’ marketplace, and activities for children. Located at 600 State Dr., Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CAAM is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is always free. Parking is $8.00 per vehicle.
